T-Track® - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I have to drill holes in my truck to install T-Tracks?
    • Answer:  Yes. The T-Track products are manufactured from 6063 aluminum alloy which is incredibly strong.  Holes must be drilled so that the T-Tracks can be securely mounted to the truck with the ¼”-20 weldnuts (which have 400% more surface area under the sheet metal than regular nuts) and the ¼”-20 stainless steel machine screws.
  2. How do I decide which T-Tracks to order?
    • Answer:  Click here for more Product Information.
  3. Is it difficult to install T-Tracks?
    • Answer:  No.  However, if you are not comfortable installing T-Tracks yourself, some retailers can install T-Tracks (there may or may not be an additional charge for installation).
  4. What if I want to install more eyebolts for more tie down points?
    • Answer:  Each set of Tracks comes with at least 2 eyebolts.  However, if you wish to purchase additional eyebolts.  See the T-Track Profiles for a part number.
  5. Can I mount T-Tracks in my truck bed at the back behind the cab?
    • Answer:  Yes.  The 2”x12” set of T-Tracks are easily mounted vertically in the truck bed behind the cab.  The 12” tracks are mounted with a drilled and tapped flat aluminum bar instead of the regular weldnuts.  This product is ideal for securing propane tanks, gas cans and other containers and equipment.
  6. Can I mount T-Tracks on the tailgate?
    • Answer:  Yes.  However, it involves removing the inside panel of the tailgate.  View/download  12" installation instructions
  7. Will the finish peel or crack?
    • Answer:  No.  The T-Tracks are anodized in either a clear (silver) or black finish. Anodizing involves treating the metal chemically to alter the outside surface of the material.  As a result, the finish is part of the material itself, not just a surface coating.
