- Question: Do I need to do anything special to my truck to use the HitchHoist?
- Answer: No. The HitchHoist is designed to fit any standard 2-inch square Class III or higher, V5 rated trailer hitch receiver with no modification to the truck, whatsoever.
- Question:How much will the HitchHoist lift?
- Answer: Up to 750 pounds or 341 kilograms. The HitchHoist Portable Truck Crane’s ultimate lifting capacity is determined by the rating on your truck’s receiver. Please check the manufacturers rating label on your receiver and cross-reference with the chart under specifications or on the base tube of your crane.
- Question: How long does it take to assemble and disassemble?
- Answer: Experienced operators can assemble or disassemble the HitchHoist in 2 minutes. Your first attempt should take no more than 10-15 minutes following the directions outlined in the assembly manual.
- Question: Can I drive with the HitchHoist on my truck?
- Answer: Yes. You should check with local State or Provincial authorities to insure compliance to width restrictions, but HitchHoist confirms in most jurisdictions. Make sure that you secure the boom end to the truck, (using the T-Track Adjustable Tie-Down System) preventing it from swinging freely.
- Question: Can I use HitchHoist on more than one truck?
- Answer: Yes. The Crane is portable and can be transferred from truck to truck as long as each vehicle has a 2-inch square Class III or higher V5 rated hitch receiver.
- Question: Can I lift with the tailgate down?
- Answer: Yes. The unique offset design of HitchHoist permits lifts with the tailgate up or down. This design breakthrough is exclusive to HitchHoist and provides the versatility to lift loads over the tailgate or with the tailgate down. The Hitchhoist swing is purposely restricted to 110 degrees. This swing places the lift onto the bed of the truck or directly behind the vehicle to ensure safety.
- Question: What does the unit weigh?
- Answer: The HitchHoist weighs 125 pounds; the shipping weight is 150 pounds. The heaviest component is just 40 pounds to comply with labor and union guidelines.
- Question: Should I lift loads if the truck is on uneven ground?
- Answer: All lifts should be made on level ground. HitchHoist's patented leveling system enables the operator to level the payload as it is moved from the truck bed to the ground directly behind the truck. When lifting from the ground to the truck the operator should use the leveling system to assure a level lift while the crane is under load.
- Question: Why aren’t there any feet under the crane to support the load?
- Answer: Support is not required. The unique offset design of the Crane ensures that the loading momentum is centered within 16 inches either side of the receiver. The load is contained within a 110 degree arc, which prevents damage to the sides of your truck and insures that the load is placed onto the truck bed.
- Question: Does HitchHoist come in any other colors?
- Answer: Yes. For multi-unit commercial orders we will happily design the HitchHoist with your company or municipality’s color scheme and logo. .Note: Minimum order restrictions may apply. Call for special orders: Toll Free: 1-877-289-0390.
